Hey all

Do y’all wipe CLP on your AR handguards/or generally around your rifle to prevent rusting? Should I do it if my hands get really sweaty? I’m thinking the salt from my hand will make it acidic and wear down the beauty of my black rifle Lol

Just to double check you can use a 22lr boresnake in an ar15 barrel, right?

I noticed that I you load mags my fingers get really black/lead-y, how do you guys make sure this stuff doesn’t transfer onto your keys/phone etc?

These are probably silly questions but I am a young guy new to the hobby. Thanks for your time.

No need to lube polymer, a 22 cal boresnake will do every 22 caliber and finally wash your hands with fast orange or wear gloves...

I just wipe my rifle down with an oily cloth when I'm finished with it. It shouldn't rust especially since most black rifles are coated rather than blued. A 22 caliber snake will work just fine. If you're loading your magazines you can wear disposable latex gloves if you're doing a bunch, other than that I just washed my hands with soap and water when I'm finished.

Thanks guys!!
Guess I’ll wipe down my AR hand guard with an oily cloth.

Wasn’t sure about wearing gloves while reloading, didn’t want to look silly at the range.
I bought some D Lead (better than fast orange) that I guess I’ll use to wipe my hands before I get in my car

Also I just show up with a regular stapler right? You guys aren’t using anything special?
And should I take my bolt apart for the first time I clean my ar before shooting it?

Not a regular table stapler. You want the heavy duty industrial one with the longer staples if possible. Or use push pins.
Yes, you can strip your bolt if you want. Lube it well. ARs like it wet.
