So, I just got my license 'upgraded' to restricted...went through this past week.

I'm in the process of buying a new to me Glock :D.

When the transfer is OK'd, and the seller ships to me -providing its to my door- do I need an ATT of any type?

I understand the nedd for ATT's to the club, etc. But I am not totally clear on what, if any, paperwork I need to have my pistols at home.

I know these are sorta silly newb questions, but I don't really want to run afoul of the rules.

Advice welcomed.

(If I've put this in the wrong forum, apologies)

If it is shipped to your door you don't need a ATT, but if you have to pick it up at the Post Office you should have an ATT. You don't need an AUTHORIZATION TO TRANSPORT to have it at your house, only to TRANSPORT it where ever it is going.

I don't know how it works in NWT now, but in BC you apparently NEED to have a long term ATT in place before the cfc will complete the transfer of a restricted firearm... also you NEED to be a member of a shooting range, BS if you ask me but hey we live in Canada what do you expect.

Interesting.

When I called AB CFO about another matter, I was told NO ATT until I have a restricted weapon registered to me.

I had heard that they can take some time, so I was inquiring about applying for my ATT while waiting for some restricted purchases/transfers to go through.

Seems to be a bit a a chicken and the egg thing....

Thanks for the info.

Hey guys, I have a question too. I already have a longterm PAL in BC and I'm having a handgun sent to me. If I'm not home when they deliver and have to go pick it up a the post office, is a seperate ATT required just for that occasion, or would my long term ATT (range, gunsmiths, border crossings) cover it?

Thanks!
