Newbie smoothbore cleaning question

Might seem like a dumb question, sorry...

But I'm about to take my first shotgun out for a few test rounds. Do you normally clean a smoothbore with a bore brush? I can understand if its a rifled barrel. Or, just a patch holder tip with light oil till it passes the test?

Get yourself a boresnake. Save you tons of time. It's a shotgun, doesn't need the TLC of a rifle, so no worries.

2nd the boresnake and a quick wipe with cloth that has been sprayed with a product like G96. Total strip down clean at the end of the season or after several thousand rounds.

i give mine a quick patch or 2, a nice wipe down of the bolt and inside the action and its good to go

One pass with a boresnake is better. The WD40 and tampax is just too complicated and not needed.
