Hi

I've been thinking of checking out the precision disciplines at ORA and maybe joining.
The closest thing I have to a precision rifle is a Tikka T3 Varmint in .300 wm with a bushnell legend 5x15. I know this is far from ideal for factory F-class, but would it be ok to use it as a starter/newbie rifle? Or would I be wasting my time?

I don't really want to buy a rifle to try precision shooting just to find out later that it is not for me and there it goes to EE, but if I like it I can definitely get a better rifle.

Thanks

Take it out and try it for a couple practices and a couple matches, enter the F(M) Manufactured Class with your factory rifle. You might find a .300 WM a little hard on the shoulder after a 50-60 round a day practice or match. Get out and see what everyone else is using before throwing money into a rifle.

Reduced loads can be very accurate and can drop the recoil to much lower levels. Something to consider.

Good luck and hopefully, you will make it out. If the goal is to learn how to hit small targets at LR and meet some really nice shooters, you will have a great time.
