Just picked up this one on the weekend. Really nice 1942 dated Savage No4 Mk1 (no star). 8C###x serial number with matching bolt. Everything Savage marked with the exception of the front sight blade. Round cocking piece. Super sharp 6 groove barrel and metal is in great shape. Got NOS Savage marked hand guards and butt stock on the way so if anyone has a nice Savage marked forend they want to part with I am buying. Or trading. Got lots of No4 parts for trade bait.
Anyone know anything about the markings from the bottom of the receiver particularly the spade shaped one? It's not on my other Savage.
