My son and I went to Dalhousie this past weekend, so he could complete the BB for IPSC. He shot standard minor all weekend, as the DA is a long reach for his small hands (new grips should help with that). Wicked mag changes and Safe!! movement, excellent finger placement. Very Proud! He turned 14last month, so I think he is the youngest in NB and possibly Atlantic Canada!

The Perfect Father's Day EH!

"Father's Day" is really Every Day when you are a parent.

You are always a parent I have found. My own son is 35 years old now.

"Once upon a time" some twenty or so years ago we too did a lot of rifle, shotgun and pistol shooting practices and competitions together.

We still do when we take the opportunity some twenty or so years later.

These pictures show what a Son and his Dad can accomplish together.

A Son to be be proud of dont just happen; he has to be both mentored and raised to Manly Maturity by BOTH his Dad and I presume here by his Mom as well.

These pictures show what a Mom and Dad can accomplish together.

Well Done Dad! Well Done Mom!

Also "kudos" to the IPSC Club that had enough maturity and interest to encourage such a Junior Pistol BB Shooter and IPSC Competitor.

I llived through this too some 21 years ago. I taught my own son to pistol shoot at my pistol club. When he first showed up he stood on a milkbox to shoot my .22 Browning through the firing port. He came to the Club with me for several years form age eight until fourteen or so.

We had a lot of good times together as this post illustrates as well.

Shooting two handed he won a bowling pin shoot with a semi auto .22LR at my home club at the Lakehead in 1986. I still have the picture handy on my desk when I call him at Ottawa.

I like to think that the types of responsibility and manliness that he learned shootiing my pistols on the target pistol ranges two decades ago were some of the reasons why one of his current IT clients GAVE him two tickets to his private box so that tonight at the Scotiaplace Hockey Arena in Ottawa my Son can watch live the Ottawa Senators go "Duck Hunting" in the Stanley Cup Final.

He asked me to share the Stanley Cup private box with him.

Ever the Parent, i allowed that he might want to instead share instead the second ticket to the Stanley Cup Final with his ten year IT Business Partner.

You never stop being a Parent eh!

Thats what the pistol range teaches!

Pistol shooting in BB competition is an "awesome responsibility" It is really great that this fourteen year old is being taught that by both his Dad and Mom.

With all due respect however this Dad is not perfect in my viewing of the congratulatory handshake picture of Son to BB Instructor posted here.

I think he should have given his Son a revolver as I spotted the moonclip holders on the belt of the BB Certificate Presenter.

However my Son likes semi-sutos best as this Son does as well it appears!

Hope to see more posts as this new shooter goes forward.

Start saving up for a 627 from the S&W Performance Centre Dad! Sons should be able to take their own path and hopefully IPSC Revolver could be that eh!

Oh Yes! Dont Forget to Use the Force!!

Here's a photo of the Black Badge course I put through in February. The youngsters on either flank standing beside their respective dads are each 11 years old. They've both shot matches since and done very well.....

Thanks very much! Very generous of you!! We had a regular loader this weekend, and needless to say, after the Black badge and a level 2 match, his fingers were a bit sore! This will be put to good use!
Best regards
MO and Joey!

I guess we'll see you both on Sunday?

Nope, sorry I can't make that one. I am shooting in NB I think for the next 2 matches with my son. He will be away visiting other relatives in July, so he may only make the NS provincials. He will be attending NB provincials for sure.
thanks,
Mo

Priceless!

Congratulations.

That photo of you two reminds me of those Mastercard ads. :D
