I'll post more details as I get them, but the SJRGC is conducting a Tactical Match on June 1. Moving and shooting 25m-200m. More fun than a barrel of monkeys.

If you don't have a semi-auto rifle, bring lots of .223, (but NOT Winchester .45gn from Walmart) or 7.62X39mm ammo.

AEI is sponsoring the match and will be there with guns and prizes. :D

Questions or queries, post em here!

See y'all there.

I am definitely attending. Any additional information on the format, or courses of fire?

Thanks very much for sponsoring the match and providing guns and prizes (cough, gun prizes) :D.

Keep us up to speed on developements.

I'm assuming any military rifle/calibre will be ok as long as its a semi auto? Pistols as well?

I don't think there will be a pistol stage, but I'm not the co-ordinator, I'll ask, I think it's being worked out now.

Any semi-auto will do. Shoot what you have. :) I hear someone will be shooting a Garand.

Because it won't feed or cycle in an AR? How about the 55 gr Win SP?

The 45gr varmint Winchester White Box stuff isn't crimped, combined with the type of hollow point it has and you've got a recipe for jams and bullet setback in any semi-auto, especially the AR-15 platform. Bullet hooks into feedramps and pushed back into case, or simply jams.

Figured as much, in which case the 55 gr soft point variety is ok?

Any updates available Walter? I'm very interested to see how this goes as it means we will soon be shooting TacRifle coast to coast in Canada.

Now all we have to do is to fill in the middle part ... ;)

Hey! Update time. It's official, Tactical Rifle is coast to coast! We ran the match today, less than 10 of us in the rain, but I think I can speak for all when I say good times.

The match organizer put forward a good course, kept it simple and for our first match no times were recorded, just hits.

50 round match, 6 stages, 2 shooters per stage. 5 rounds per target, two targets per stage, distances 25 (standing), 50m (standing), 100m (any position), 10 clays/10 shots at the 50m berm, then advance to the 50m berm for 10 shots at 150m (shooters choice).

Nice straightforward shooting.

Stag Arms on the podium in 1st and 3rd (<-me:D).

I'm already looking forward to the next match.

Hope some more shooters come out and give it a try with us next time, the weather is never a guarantee out here, but good times will be. :shotgun:

My congrats and thanks to the organizers.

Cheers,
DT
