always changing!
Good evening gentlemen,

Moved to YVR about 9 months ago from Ottawa for work as a seaplane pilot with a well known company here in town.
A few years ago, I got my PAL &RPAL and subsequently bought a single shot 12 gauge and a brand new Weatherby Vanguard in a 300WM.

I'd really like to get into pistol/revolver shooting but other than a few hours spent at the range in the states (.22 revolver and a 38/357 revolver)have no idea where to begin... EE and just showing up to one of the local ranges seems tempting but I'd rather not drop X amount of dollars on a handgun I like the look of and then showing up at the range with it seems a bit daunting...

I am looking for someone whom enjoys spending time at the range, someone whom wouldn't mind mentoring a new comer to handguns.

If you'd like to pay forward some mentorship you may have had in the past, I'd be happy to pay it forward to someone else down the road in return.

Am located in North Vancouver but would gladly drive out anywhere in the lower main land to connect with a mentor.

All the best,
Cessna

The rental range is DVC Ventures. They've got a wide variety of semi auto and revolvers in every caliber from .22LR to .500S&W. It's worth the cash to go and try a few out.

Do NOT go on Friday evenings since that's Lady's Night and the place is a zoo. What I'd suggest is call and tell them that you're a new shooter and would like to try a variety of guns during a fairly quiet time. It's still a crap shoot but they should be able to give you some options for what is USUALLY a fairly quiet period. That way you should be able to have one of the range officers give you a few pointers on holding and aiming correctly.

It won't be a cheap day but it will give you a far better idea of which handguns you like. And that likely means you'll end up saving in the end by knowing that what you will then buy is the gun you like best of the lot.

Come see us at Abbotsford Fish and Game club next Friday (29th) it is our new shooter night. PM me for more information.
