Nice little lathe.

Looks to be a 10K (light 10) in very nice condition. Good lathe for much work, but a bit on the small side for barrels. A Heavy 10 with 36" centers is probably among the best older lathes for gunsmithing.

Retail you'd be looking at over a grand unless you got lucky. On second look more than that. Looks like it has the 5c collet bar. $1250+ depending on where you are.

To bad it's so far or I'd be tempted.

If it's a 10K it's a 6K collet, IIRC, not a 5C. In any case, a collet set that is unique to a 10K. I used to have a handful of those collets.

Through bore on a 10K is smaller than on the Heavy 10, and won't fit a 5C collet. It's basically the same as a 9" South Bend, or a wee bit larger, jacked up for another inch of swing, so, half inch higher castings.

Given that pile of goodies in the box, plus the cachet of the SB name, I'd not be surprised to see it go over $2K. At that, I figure it'd still be a bargain for the buyer, if they were looking for a hobby lathe.

A far better deal than spending the same money at Grizzly or Busy Bee, IMO.

Cripes almighty boys, you need to keep and eye on yer local kijiji.
I picked up a Colchester triumph 2000 nearly totally rebuilt for $100 about a month ago, with a taper attachment.
In a sense, I love ontarios falling apart economy...
They keep on throwing machines out, and I keep on buying em, and makin money with em ;)
Ive managed to assemble a late 1980's job shop at home for under 5k, including a full 3 axis cnc mill.
Go talk to local machine shops. If they are making money, they give the old $hit away...thats your opportunity for near free toys

1600 is a bit steep but I'd bet the buyer doesn't regret it. Quality small profile machines can be hard to come by. But, like Mac said, if you stay awake and you're organized there are nice deals to be had.

Took nearly a year for me to find a lathe that fit most of my needs. When things get back to normal on Monday I just need to score a new motor, scrub the hell out of her, and she's ready to make parts.
