nice pump .22?

Well, I can't vouch for any particular brand, but I do know that there is nothing about the pump action itself that makes them any less accurate than any other type of manually actuated action, despite the north american love affair with the bolt.
 
22 pumps

Having grown up with 22 pumps I love them:D You can't go wrong esp with the older browning trombones as they were called. It was a take down model. When I grew up on the prairies it seemed they were all over and many a Jack rabbit ended up in the stew pot:D The one we had at my uncles farm accounted for jack rabbits, grouse, coyutes, badgers, crows,skunks and a zillion gophers.

Reminton, Winchester etc all made excellent pumps. l found most were accurate.

Its a shame Browning quit making the Trombone:(
 
I have an old Rem. model 12 that has always shot minute of gopher at least as far as my eyes go. Friend has one at least as old and it shoots every bit as well. Likes a rounder nose on the bullet for feeding but other than that it is pretty much worry free fun.
 
I've got a nice Rossi mod 62 that's a fun little pump....I'd look at a Henry with the octagon barrel if I was looking for a new one.

I have an iverjohnson pump 22 and love it . if your going to by one buy a new one not some Antique that you can;t get parts for . like a Remington or a Browning . I would stick with the Remington as it is american made and I think the Browning is made in Japan and a buddy told me they rust quickly but don;t hold me to that one . :sniper:
 
There is nothing nicer than an original pump Browning or Winchester. They're all takedown, the craftsmanship on these is unbelievable in todays market.. They're also accurate, since that's what they were judged on, and since they have no disconnectors ( at least the Winchesters don't) you can have a lot of fun rapid shooting them. Because so many were made, finding spare parts doesn't seem to be a problem.
 
I saw some ads for a taurus pump that looked attractive enough but never actually held one or looked at it.Not sure of the quality or workmanship
 
I picked up a nice Winchester 1906 pump takedown at the Kamloops show last year. Made in 1937 and shoots like a hot damn. Much smaller than other 22s as well so it packs nicely. I take it to the range every once in a while as a cooler and it gets a lot of attention. Lots of guys shooting expensive 22lrs want to play with it. Never misfires and no FTF or FTE. A delightful little rifle. Why buy a new one when you can pick up a well tested pump for $250 or so?
 
mrpike (seven posts back) got me interested in a Browning Trombone a year ago and I eventually found one. Slickest little rimfire pump I ever shot! If another comes up at a good deal I probably won't be passing it up!!!
 
its really funny-pumps in shotguns are well accepted[ie.remingtons legendary 870] but not in rifles.A .22 pump makes alot of sense,especially when so many people like semi-auto's-again an anonomoly because other than miltary style rifles , semi-autos are not popular in centerfires for hunting rifles.
 
The Remington pump Fieldmaster (542?) is as accurate, fast, light, and versatile as you can get. Shoots S,L,LR.
Had one since I was 16, still going strong.:)
