So it is nickel plated ... interesting! Anyone know the reason behind that? Anyone know where to get new in .308?

What's that gonna look like? :D

Much like it did before I fired it, Black moly bullet to cap it off. I am looking for something more interesting but It's pretty much that or plain copper color. I have some 10mm Nickel plated brass I plan to top with winchester silvertips. Should be real shiny and good for werewolves! To answer Okotiaks question, NP brass supposedly feeds more reliably beyond that I am not sure of the purpose.

You've never seen nickel plated brass before?

Jason, you gotta get out more!:p;)

If you can't find 308 nickel component brass, I believe speer Nitrex is nickel factory ammo?

Or post an ad in the EE.:)

if you reload, it's tough on the dies- that's why it's not popular- and it has a tendency to flake off anyway, so you might just as well buy standard brass in the first place- i've got some and the only reason i use it is to distinguish "special" loads or development loads from standards- ie my standard 338 load is a 250 grain spire loaded to eac specs- my stuff in nuckel cases has a 275 grain semi-spitzer meant for big bears and you can't get anymore- i could just as easily use a different coloured box- and i've got all my brass through wholesale- the nickel is like a couple of bucks more, but when it flakes, it'll scratch your dies

Hahaa, funny you should say that, a buddy of mine who doesn't reload keeps hounding me to cook him up a batch of nickel-plated 10mm topped with silvertips as well "in case of werewolves". Have you two been talkin'?:D

because nickel flakes off steel as well- eventually- and you'd see the price up there- moreover , the carbide ones actually use a carbide ring for resizing, and the rest of the die is just along for the ride- while it could be done, you'd still have to compensate for the thickness of the nickel, and there's no advantage

"...What's that gonna look like?..." The bullet will be pink and have a wee feather stuck in it.
"...good for werewolves!..." Has to be real silver. Silvertips aren't.
Remington makes nickel plated brass. Your local gun shop may or may not carry it. They should be able to order it if their supplier has any. It doesn't really have much advantage over regular brass. The plating has been known to flake off too.

Nickel plated, I have 20 once fired brass I plan on turning into pimp ammo. No idea where to find it new sorry.

Hollow point bullet with diamonds encrusted in the tip, leopard print pattern on the case, crocodile leather belt on the cannelure?

I normally reject Nickle plated cases for reloading rifle ammunition. I am not particularly enamoured with them for the reasons already stated. In pistol applications, they are OK, since I use carbide dies, which are next to impossible to scratch. Regards, Eagleye.

WHOLESALE SPORTS ( ww w.wholesalesports.com )in Edmonton has Remington new unprimed nickled brass listed.

BEARMAN, thank you as I'll have to check these guys out to find some nickel plated brass in .308!

joe-nwt, yeah I gotta get out more is right ... I live in the middle of the tundra out in the boonies ... ;) :p
