Hey guys. I did a search and only found 1 and that had sold. So here goes this guy I know just called me and he has a nickel plated colt python in .357 mag. With or without a scope and an extra set of hogue grips he wants to sell. I'm going to look at it tonight. I dont know round count id say not many in last few years. Not sure of the shape but I'm going to say very good to excellent. Everything else he has is immaculate. Not sure when it was made but im guessing 20 years ago?? Not sure start and end date for python so i could be wrong. so my question is what price range would this be in. I don't want to over pay. Thanks for any help guys! I'll let you know how I make out.

Nickel Pythons were made till 1982 and value of a mint restricted 6" Nickel finish Python would be around $1450 with original box and papers. A bit less for the 8" version. Prohibs would go for 30% to 40% less.

Thanks not sure if it comes with original box and papers. Not even sure if it's 6" or 8". I saw it years ago but can't remember. Pretty sure it's been a safe queen for 15 years. Should I bother getting scope? Never really liked scopes on revolvers. I might get scope and try it out.

do some checking on the americian websites, the value seems to be honestly higher in the states then here in Canada, so take whatever the common number is and stick with that or be abit lower on the offer.

As for 2400, hell you can get a NIB one out of a outfit in montana (they have 4 never been out of the box) for that price then import fees and shipping

Ok guys I went and checked it out. Sorry no pics would've been awkward. It is a nickel plated colt python .357 mag 6" barrel. Original wood grips and a rubber set from the 80's. I would say gun is in good shape not mint but good. Few very minor scratches. One small scuff smaller than a dime on frame. Unknown round count. He said not a lot because too expensive. Mostly .38 special. Gun is very tight no wiggle at all. It has a stainless weaver handgun scope also vintage 80's. No case. Any idea on value? I might buy it. Take it to range a couple times try it out then trade it for something else.

Given the condition you've described I would say $1100-$1200 with scope, $100 less without it.

That guy is pricing his nickel Python too cheap. It would sell in the condition you described for C$1500.00.
Nickel Pythons are the cream of the crop. If you can find one that cheap, just buy it. It's the stainless steel ones that should be worth less.

Uhhh nickle should be the least valuable of the pythons....

It should go

1) royal blue

2) bright stainless

3) nickle

nickle can chip and come off bright stainless is a much better alternitive if you want a shiny python.

IMHO for a mint nickle python Id only pay a grand MAX but I have a Royal blue one so #### the nickle.

since the prohib 104 mm thing has come into law, I have purchased 2 4" Colt Pythons for under $500.00 Kanuck bucks. One was Nickeled, the other Royal Blue. God bless you Alan Rock!

P.S. both were purchased from Dealers.

I had a bright nickle 8" that I sold for $1100 plus NIB GSG 1911. Looking back I have mixed feelings about that deal. The gun was near mint, 97% easy and I got it for $400. At the time I was building my collection so selling the gun allowed me to get two and some extras. I doubt I'll ever get another one now that I have a S&W 4.2" 686 but who knows. If I do get another one I want a stainless 6".
