nickel finish question

just curious how nickel finished revolvers compare to blued for corrosion resistance and long term looks?

Man, I wish you guys would quit reminding me of the S&W Mdl 27-2 I sold a few years back
It was super easy to care for and looked HAWT

Easy to clean. Just keep any amonia solvent like Hoppes #9 at distance to prevent yellowish staining. Use other type or oil for cleaning.

I have a new in presentation box 27-2. I put grease on it therefore it is well protected. I may sell it because it is so beautiful and I don't want to make it dirty.

I hear you man...I have a blued Python revolver that I feel that way about.

Both electrolytic and electroless nickel plate offer superior corrosion resistance to blued steel. The electroless nickel plate (a nickel-phosphorus alloy) surpasses electolytic nickel in hardness, substrate adhesion, and corrosion resistance; and also has a low friction coefficient,.........great finnish for guns if they dont have to be black.
