Nickel S&W M29-2 Value??

Value probably a bit less than if it was blued.

Just my .02

I just picked up 29-2 6 inch blue with display box and all that came with it. Gun looks unfired, paid $1000 and the way I see it when I sell down the road maybe get a $100 for it, youngins not fan of revolvers. But it's so pertty!!

Really? I've found that nickle guns usually command a bit of a premium over blued. I know it's true for Pythons.

edit

My copy of SCSW states under 29-1 "Nickle brings two to three times standard value." However, under the 29-2 info it's "slight premium for nickle"

I'd guess that nickle 29-2's are much more common than 29-1's in nickle finish.

Absent wooden presentation case, tools etc I'd put the gun at 900-1000

My comment is based on the desirability of nickel vs blued S&W's in .44 Magnum in the EE here on CGN.

In moderating the EE for the past ~ 7 yrs I've noted that blued vintage M29's seem to sell faster than their nickel counterparts.

The blued 29's are more appealing to buyers who will actually shoot the gun. The nickel finish with obviously add value but not necessary desirability for a shooter. The EE is a good example, a blued 29 will sell for a lower price and sell quickly if priced right unless the nickel version is in mint/like new condition with all goodies and presentation case it will be bought by a collector for a much higher price.
