I came across this old-timer the other day. It appears to be built on an 1888 action, 22" barrel. It is an 8mm, but I can't tell if is set up for .318 or .323 bullets, as there is no visible "S" stamped on it. No serial number on the topside.

The old thing has engraving all over it. The front sight is marked "Marble No.2, the base is marked "M". The rear sight has no markings. The underside of the bolt handle has "Sc" right near the bolt. It has nice wood, but has been repaired at the wrist. It is not set up for the later military stripper clips like the two Turk 1888's I have. It has provision for the old style en bloc clip.

It even has a neat old Bob Campbell sling.

More pics to follow. Anybody able to shed any light on this rifle?

It certainly would have been a beauty in its day. I think I will load some "gallery" lead bullet loads and fire the old girl. I have a good supply of small lead projectiles, and lots of 8mm brass.

Nifty is right! I have a soft spot for old rifles like this one. Someone put a lot of work into the conversion on that one for sure, let us know how she shoots.

No "S" and no stripper clip port would lead one to think it has a .318 bore. I guess whoever did the engraving may have scrubbed the "S" off though. Going to slug the bore?
