I have just had a front optic fiber sight intalled on my Para 16-40. To be honest, I am somewhat disappointed. The optical fiber is fantastic in bright lighting, however, the gun stalls at my local club are not very bright so the fiber optic doesn't "collect" enough of the ambient light to be effective.

Should I have gone with night sights instead for dimmer, indoor shooting?

What about Tru-glo night sights ? They are tritium lit in low light, but also have internal fibre optic rods for bright sights in bright light ?

Tru-Glo

Hi Gorky, it's a pleasure to see you...

So these Tru-Glo are a sort of hybrid? The Gunsmith at my club cut a wider dovetail in my Para slide ( the Para dovetails are extremely small ) Could I try one of the Tru-Glo s with my widened dovetail?

Hi Gene,

Yep, they are a sort of hybrid, so to speak.

Tru-glo TFO (Tritium Fibre Optic)

Whether they make them for 1911s and whether they would fit to whatever cut your gunsmith used (probably novak or bomar ?), that is something to contact Tru-glo and your smith about.

Also, I have not used these TFO sights before but I have read a few favourable reviews....
