The digital NV has a good price point. If you are looking for something more of a commercial grade and do not care about covertness than digital NV can be a good option.

But if you are in the military or law enforcement and need true low light operation without having others being able to detect you, than true night vision is really the way to go.

I don't have any experience with either, but which ever company you go with ask for a Spec sheet as that will tell you a lot more about what product you are getting. Also TNVC used to carry GSCI thermal so that does say something of the product they do put out.
None of my business but I don't know the regulations with hunting/varmint control at night in Alberta but you might want to check before you buy a rig you can't use and if its for smaller calibre rifle you should be able to get away with a pvs-14 as a mounted option.

Unfortunately I cannot speak to the clip on side of things; however, I do really love my GSCI Gen 3 PVS14. Very good tube, and made in Canada, so non ITAR controlled, which may make it easier if you want to go to the USA for some night hunting. I would absolutely recommend a GSCI, based on my experience with them.
I'm not very familiar with Newcon, I haven't used any of their products. I'm sure they are of good quality though.

Hi. I see your are running a GSCI monocular. I have an Anchutz MSR RX-22 with tritium up front on the irons. I would like to get set up with NOD to do night drills. I have plenty of private space and am isolated. Thinking non ballistic helmet and maybe the GSCI GS 14 (Gen 2+) monocular for my left eye. Right will be night adapted. A Newcon IR aimer and an Inforce 75mW 850nM IR Illuminator on the rifle. That's my $5000 budget right there. Any thoughts? How is your GEN 3 for recognition? I'm new to the forum. Not sure if this is hijacking the thread or I need to PM you. Anyway. Thoughts related would be good. This is not for hunting. I have found nothing in regards to shooting or not shooting at night on personel property.

Isn't that just hunting regulation? That's what the URL seems to indicate.
The spec sheet on the tube will show which is offering the better choice. GSCI can produce very high quality items. Check the F-stop on the lens assembly too. Chances are you will get a better spec tube from GSCI and if the manufacture is not US based due to export restrictions. For the Newcon, a NVS 27 might be the better choice.
