Does anyone have any experience with this scope? Does it work well in low light? compared to maybe one with at 56mm lens?

I'm looking for a compact hunting scope for my Model 7 and thought this might be a winner. Expensive but I'm willing to pay ONCE for a good scope.

I have one mounted on a Sako 75 Hunter (6.5 x 55) that I use for occasional "fun" sniper matches run at our local range. We only shoot to 300 yards but it sure dials in well!

As far as I'm concerned, the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 x 32 is a perfectly good compromise with superior optics that allow you to dial in at longer ranges with a size and weight that is not out of place on a lighter hunting rifle.

The full-size (56mm objective) NXS scopes are a different animal altogether. Yes, they are brighter and sharper, but that's an apples to oranges comparison. They are truly massive scopes suited to full-size precision rifles - not a compact hunting rig.

If your heart is set on mounting a Nightforce on your Model 7, I'd say "go for it". Bear in mind that the NXS 2.5-10 x 32 has a 30mm tube, so it's still going to seem on the heavier side.

While you can get a lighter weight hunting scope in something like a Leupold 2.5-8, if you don't mind the extra heft, the 32mm Nightforce is an awesome optic that would work great on any hunting rifle.

I have and hunt with a NXS 2.5-10x32. The low light performance is adequate although not in the same class as my NXS 3.5-15x50, which is like voodoo in lowlight conditions. Having said that it has been good enough to take a grizzly at last light this spring, a moose and a whitetail at first, first light this fall, a coyote a couple of weeks ago at first, first, first light.

It is superior (to my eyes) to scopes like the VX-3 2.5-8x36 (which I also have and hunt with).

It is heavier at 19ozs than the 2.5-8 Leupold at 11ozs.

The tracking is absolutely dependable.

It is a very well made, robust scope with very good glass.

I have NF 2.5-10x24 scopes on a few rifles, including my lightweight deer gun. Very bright compared to other brand scopes (including some Leupold and Bushnell Elite). Will not be as bright as a NF x50 or x 56 but it is not as big or bulky either. I doubt you will be disappointed (and if you are, you probably won't have much trouble selling it).

What reticles were you thinking of going with ?
