We were fortunate to be invited to a new Nightforce event held at the fine CORE shooting facility in Florida. Invitees included Sniper's Hide, various media reps and USA dealers. After evening meet and greet, AM had Sean Murphy reviewed technical aspects on Nightforce and we were treated to a few words by Dr. Ray Dennis, President and founder of Nightforce. I know many smart people and he is tops and definitely interesting! We were then introduced to PRS by Bryan Morgan, owner and instructor of CORE, assisted by two other professional instructors. He had us shooting various scenarious including prone fixed distance and then using reticle for various distance shooting(0 hits). Next day we used a new Daniel Defence .308 semi with movement and firing out 3 windows and then a railing and a roof. My hits were 1 of 3 then 2 of 3 at following stations. Wouldn't have any hits off roof if the instructor didn't put his foot below mine so I wouldn't slip completely off!
Shooting from tower at 1025 yards was fun with contributor AI with .308 Win/300 WM and 338 Norma Mag. This was comparatively easy with all hits using contributed Black Hills and Norma Match ammo and AI were most generous with many rounds blasted quickly.
We did an interesting "defilade?" shoot, where the final target could not be seen, but was measured between aiming "target" and real target first with F1 mil reticle for elevation and offset. This was then followed by rapid shoot in which I was more than slow and noticed the experienced PRS shooters held their thumb outside as opposed to "wrapped around" pistol grip.
Food was excellent with a nice BBQ steak dinner on final Thursday evening and Nightforce and supporters Daniel Defence, Black Hills ammo, Accuracy International and Oakley sunglasses are to be commended for this unique event - far superior to the Shot Gong Show!
