My AI clone is about to get finished by the Gaulin gunsmiths and the last piece missing is the scope. I really had my eyes on the Horus falcon H25, but no one's getting back to me about their availability.

So I'm looking at the other options. Lots of guys seem to prefer the Nightforce NSXs, Leupies seem less popular and I just heard about IORs, which look like nice affordable scopes.

I want a good tactical scope, but I'm not willing to break the bank (1.0-1.3K). Which scope would you recommend?:sniper:

I would go with a NXS after having one on my precision rifle, the difference between it and a leupold are night an day.... and frankly not that much more expensive.

S&B is just WAY out there in price for me...

here's a little NXS #### for you on my precision rifle, ken farrell 20MOA rail and luepold PRW rings.

A hunting partner has a Horus, I've shot this rifle at the range and compared it to my NXS to my eyes they are roughly equal. My experience is that the Leupold trails both of these in clarity and in ability to use in lower light levels. I am not familiar with the IOR's.

From a physical robustness perspective I think the Nightforce leads.

The NXS will cost you about $1600 and change for a 3.5-15x50 like I've got. Either the x50 or x56 will be great scope. ATRS should have some NXS in stock.

Wow Westicle! Nice setup!

Looks like the NXSs have the favor of the public... The only down side is that they don't have FFP yet...

Do most of you guys use often change the magnification while shooting or you mostly stay fixed? (Snipers use 10x, but civies seems to get variable power scopes..)

Just to be a pr*ck.....................:p

Splurge............get the S&B PM-II 5 - 25 X 56mm.......................:D ;)...............you only live once, and it is the last scope you will buy............:sniper:

Seriously, If I didn't sell off a bunch of guns/scopes to buy the S&B, my next choice was going to be a Nightforce NXS.................This comes from a former diehard Leupold guy who had owned most of the top line Mark 4s.........

SKBY.

The same as the S&B on my Timberwolf - except for power.

What bolt knob is that on your Rem ? Nice rifle - I've got an AICS with adj.
cheek pce and butt. I like thumbhole stocks. My Rem has a Badger knob that
ATRS installed. Really nice job! I'm building another rifle as a back-up and
project. Thanks!

Currently usnig two different IORs (6-24x50 and 3-18x42) very satisfied.
Check with Peter Dobson (Hirsch Precision)

hmmmm just bought a nsx 3.5-15x50 with NP-R2 reticle from peter today in fact ! only 1490$ plus gst ! In my humble opinion they are the best scopes you can possibly buy , next in line would be huskemaw optics, then zeiss, and last but not least leupold, those to me are the top 4 , well ok make it top 5 and put burris in after leupold.

I just compared my Mk4 8.5-25x50 tonight with my NF 8-32x56 NXS...and to be totally fair to the leupold it doesn't give up much in the glass department. The NF seems to have a wider FOV, and slightly better clarity, but it really wasn't that far off. I did pay 1550 for my Leupold and only 1800 for the NF so for that small price diff i would most certainly go for a NF..especially since the reticle and turrets use the same units; a point that most people seem to overlook? for the money i really don't think you can beat NF, second would be Leupold, strictly talking optics.

You are also forgetting the guts of the NF , which leupold doesn't come close to IMHO, inside the NF , everything metal is titanium, Also the NF is far superior in low light, the clarity is only a bit better in daylight but in low light conditions, the NF outshines em all , , the us military seems to think so too , from what I hear, it is the scope of choice for them :)
