Seriously comparing a Nightforce to a Vortex is not a fair comparison to the Vortex. If you are using either of these scopes on a hunting rig, you realize you are carrying some significant weight on top of your rifle? If you are planning on making some seriously long shots on game, of course the ethics come into play (ie. can you repeatedly make cold bore, long range shots to ethically kill game cleanly?). Also, even at 300m, a deer at 9x is plenty large enough in the field of view.
Given that you have no history on this forum, I am not sure what your experience is or how you like to hunt. If you had a bit more info on your original post, you may get more valuable feedback. Things to consider: model of rifle and caliber you are shooting, intended game, past experience, weight restrictions on your gear.
I am considering changing scopes to something a bit more target friendly as well as useful for hunting. One to consider is the new Bushnell series 6500. 30mm tubes, and with the middle range of magnification, it really is a do-it-all scope for under $1000
