Depends on your intended purpose.
If you are doing mainly target shooting and benchrest style shooting, Higher magnification rules for the highest level of accuracy.
If you are doing more shooting at various ranges and shooting steel, etc, I would suggest sticking with the lower magnification. In my opinion, for this kind of shooting, you lose a lot of the advantage of higher power to environmental factors such as mirage.
I had the same choice for my new .50 a few days ago, and I went with the 5.5-22 power. I have successfully shot my .338 Lapua to 1km with a fixed 20 power scope, with no issues.
Just my .02
Don't forget the 32x has less internal adjustment then the 22x
What do you mean by "internal adjustment"? I read on nightforce's website that the illumination brightness is control is located under the battery. Is this what you are referring to? Pardon my lack of knowledge.
Great, the rifle came with a 20MOA rise! It had a SB 8-20 on it before. Good stuff thanks for the info, I've been reading myself in circles on the net!Internal Elevation adjustment, basically how many clicks you can move the scope up or down to compensate for various shooting distances.
The 22x has 100MOA of adjustment, which is important to give you enough elevation to get out to the long range targets. I would consider a 20MOA rise base as well.
The 32x has only 65MOA of adjustment.
