I probably hinted about this way too early, but I've finally bucked down and got the video up of this baby.

Its uploading as I type, and I'll link the youtube in here when I get to work (don't tell the boss!)

I have a full run down of how many different pieces of gear I went through to make this happen, but I feel like I talk too much in my videos as it is, so that's on the back burner for now.

Please, ask me questions! I've spent so much time playing with parts and kit to make this stack up properly I feel way more familiar with the rifle now.

I actually met some Israeli guys at shot-show in the Meprolight booth! They were impressed that I had one, and liked the starter videos I was churning out then, but they gave me hell for calling it a "Tay-vor." To them it is definitely a "Tah-vor" and I'm a little bit of a redneck Canadian.

Off roading uphill in the bed of a truck with a tripod and a rifle in the dark? I wish I did have it!

I actually wasn't even thinking about the camera at that point, only later reviewing footage did I see myself saying that and crack up.

Glad you guys like it. As long as I'm still having fun I'm going to keep doin em. By this time tomorrow I should be on the range trying the new TT gear.

Have you ever tried wearing the night vision on your head while shooting rather than mounting it on the rifle.

Mounting it on the rifle should keep everything more solid while shooting, but if you wear the night vision it should make life easier the rest of the time you are not shooting - when you are just moving around, etc.

I need to confess that while I have used night vision and spent a lot of time researching it, I have no experience using it to shoot so I can't say that I know what I am talking about.

I would like to pick up a monocular to use with an Elcan SpectreDR on the Tavor... but my money is going towards other projects at the moment.

you need a forward mount PVS-22 style NV if your running it with an Elcan Spectre DR, a typical PVS-14 rear mount unit will not work properly.

Ah - so it's the magnification that screws it up. Good to know. Is this the same issue with the ACOG as well?

I'm actually on your side with this. When I get my shorty barrel I think the full rail will live on it and regular can-am rail will stay on the full-size.

He's right, but Blaxsun you can run an NVD behind some powered scopes. Thats why all the vortex PST's have their lowest 3 brightness settings as invisible. Does it work well? I haven't gotten that far yet! But I think the problem with the spectre's is their brightness is either on strong or off entirely.

The other issue will be eye relief. The PST 1-4 has tons, but an ACOG or HAMR you'd have to have your NVD kissing the glass.
