Nikon Black X1000 6-24X50SF ???

I don't have the 6-24x50 but I have the 4-16x50 SFP MOA reticle. Very good glass and with that 50mm lens the 16 magnification actually gives better view than the other 16's with smaller lenses. I like the quick reset turrets when you zero it, no monkeying with any screws or so. A lot of elevation adjustment, my scope has 115 MOA's of total adjustment which is good, good and easy operation of all functions. This was the good part. Now the bad. After some 200 + rounds the scope developed tracking problems, over-corrections and POI drift. I initiated warranty claim and I am currently in communications with Nikon what to do with it and it is so far proving to be a headache because it seems, Nikon Canada is not user friendly to rifle scope warranty. After a full week of back and forth e-mails I was informed the scope has warranty, go figure genius, it is written in the manual. Despite my very first request on day one where to ship it. The problem is multiplied by frequently being diverted to US side without you knowing it and that US side wants to have nothing to do with Canadian side. The communicating staff on Canadian side seems to be ignorant of rifle scope issues. It took a while and navigation to find repair center in Canada which I have to call tomorrow because e-mail got me so far nowhere. I dealt with Bushnell warranty(repeatedly on several different products) and they were fantastic, I navigated Vortex in a matter of minutes. Nikon scope is good as long as it works but GOD HELP you if it does not. Please feel free to come to your own conclusions and act accordingly. I know for myself, over the years, I've owned a number of different brands of scopes but this first Nikon scope I unfortunately bought is also my last Nikon I bought.

Well this makes my decision easier, sorry to hear about your bad experience. My other choices are either Bushnell or Sightron.

Thanks for taking the time, I appreciate it.

It used to be very nice to walk into the Nikon Canada service/ warranty center in Richmond with my Nikon products and talk to a person. Unfortunately, they closed it. My dealings with Ontario have been wuite good though. This is with camera gear, however.

Are the cross thin enough too use for F Class target shooting,,, I should of looked at the scope some more when I had it in my hands earlier this summer.

I think they are, the glass and reticle are pretty good on that scope and the quick re-set turrets help also when you change your zero for whatever reason. I'll compare it side by side with my Viper PST when it arrives.

Right on, I'm looking for another scope for my dual purpose built rifle for game harvest and F Class match.

The mileage lines in the scope will make fast work of critter getting,,, and turret adjustments for match.

I'm doing ok out too 600 meters with the 3-12x42 BDC but I can see it will limit me at being able to see the marages at 800 and the 900M mark.

I did the 1 km shoot the other day with my Sightron optics as it worked good,,, the 16 too 1700M is soon to follow once the forest fire smoke dissipates.

The 2 Nikon optics I'm looking at for this build is 1 of the Black 1000's and the Monarch 5 with 4-20x50ED Advanced BDC retrical.

Again,,, dual purpose idea since it will cover both areas for me,,, I'd like 3X at its lowest setting for my bush stuff, but 4X will just get me by.

Western Canada Don
