Does anyone have experience with the Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40mm rifle scope. I am looking for a low priced (under $500) variable power scope to install on a 22-250 for paper punching up to 500 Yds. This scope has a side focus paralax adjustment and hand adjustable turrets which are both features that I want on my next scope. Are there any other scopes in my pricerange that I should consider.

Thanks,

There is an experienced fellow on the CGN board who has lots of love for the Nikon Buckmaster, especially at this price point. He goes by the handle: mysticplayer. Jerry is a great resource and he has convinced me to get one of these also.

He can be found at the Precision Rifles forum. Give him a PM (private message) and see what he's got to say. He gives sound advice.

Cheers,
Barney

Thanks Barney, I will. When you get it, I will bet you a nice big glass of your favorite lager that your Luppies go for sale.

See the Nikon Buckmaster SF and you will buy the scope. Simply the best scope on the market for the features. Awesome optics, great mechnicals (survived my scope torture tests), mil dot, side focus that actually works, can see in non legal light, reasonably light, nice size for standard length actions.

Nikon will sell boatloads of these. After all the import costs, around $400-450ish. Bug SIR and get them to bring them in. Otherwise a bit of a pain to get from the US.

I sent an E-Mail to SIR and they replied to me this morning. They say that the Nikon Buckmaster SF 4.5x14x40mm with Mildot reticle is not available in Canada, they only offer the nik rlex reticle (copied the spelling from the E-Mail).

I guess I will be purchasing this scope from The Optic Zone ($245 US + $20.25 shipping + Taxes) within the next few weeks unless I can find a reasonably priced canadian supplier. They also gave me the contact number in order to get the Import licence (no charge for the licence).

I can't wait to compare this scope to my Leupold Mark 4 3.5x10x40mm M3 and see if this scope is as good as Mysticplayer says. I will keep you posted once I get this scope and have a chance to test it.

Does anyone know how Nikon's waranty is and if there are any issues if the scope is purchased in the US.

Thanks,

Mark

Well, I just got a buckmaster 3x9x40 scope for christmas. A little less bling than the model your looking at, but I'm very happy with it so far. Have only just mounted it and dicked around at home but I am very impressed with the optics.

I notice though it does say in the warrantee information if outside the US you need to return it to place of purchase. Might be a hastle buying outside of Canada if there's a problem down the road.....

Might be a bit late on post, but I bought the older style in June without the side focus, mine is still on front of scope, and I payed 210 dollars shipping included off Ebay.Used it this hunting season and loved it!
