Surprise bonus at work

I was going to look at re-purchasing a Vortex Viper I had sold recently. The Coyote Special was on sale at $100 savings over the Viper, and in similar camo to my rifle.. I shot a pm to Nikon Travis for his input.

I thought I would hate the reticle. But since the center circle equals the accuracy of my 30-30 at 100 yards, I figured I'd give it a shot.

I now have a new favorite reticle of all time. I was reading some people saying it wasn't good for accurate groups, now I see that it simply isn't everybody's thing. To me, it fits the bill - especially for hunting. I will save up for another Viper down the road because I loved that thing, but for now I am totally happy and was able to also afford a rimfire prostaff for my 10/22 at the same time.

I'll post pics if anyone is interested, as I found very little info on this scope on the internet.

Thanks Nikon Travis for the suggestions

Cheers

Just shot a 1.5 inch group at the 100 yard range today. I could center on my target without hiding the bull, much easier for me to focus and that group was quickly done.

I am glad I got this.

Edit: also wanted to add that the turrets track very well and are repeatable when adjusting for botg elevation and windage. That was a feature I hoped would be as decent as the vortex viper.

100 yard sight in. 1st shot was left, adjusted windage. Next 4 shots are slightly right as a group.

Just an update, brought it out to the range today, and I was a little disappointed at first. The picture seemed dull and less lively than usual. Maybe I had jumped the gun with this? Then I removed the ARD (anti reflection device) and VOILA! Nice and bright again with crisp detail.

... THEN, I shot my tightest group EVER. 30-30 Federal fusion 150gr @ 100yards, the grid is 1/2 inch squares:

I like that circle reticle on paper targets; depending upon the size of the bull, it's easy to centre a crosshair in the small "aperture", or the circle reticle itself in a larger round bull. I don't care for it at all on game.

Yeahave valid thought. I'll see how I like it when I go take a critter with it. I might just try a few figures first to see.
