Looking for new glass for my RPR. Currently using my nikon m-223. while checking out the nikon site I see they now offer ffp bdc on several models. While I don't care for the BDC on my m223 that is due to it changing at different magnifications.

These are in the same price range as the falcon scopes I was looking at.

So is anyone actually using one of the new Nikons?

which would be a better scope the nikon or the falcon?

I am wondering the same about their FFP scopes. I really like my Monarch 3 scopes now and have a good understanding of the BDC circles at common magnifications, but the FFP is something I have been wanting to try out.

I was looking at some on the Jo-Brook outdoors web site. the prices look good. I like the glass on my current nikon scope just find the bdc reticle kind of useless. I can't find a good review of them online other then the Nikon promotional material.

I'm really hoping that this is the start of a trend of manufacturers realizing the value of FFP. If only more were starting to produce .mil scopes as well ... cough Sightron cough ...

The BDC doesn't really appeal to me but I'm looking for a FFP for a CZ455 in 17hmr but don't want to spend 1000$ on a scope that I'll be using for hunting. Not many options out there.

Prophet River has the FFP as well and puts the Nikons on sale a few times per year. I am tempted to try one.

I'm kinda of a Nikon fan, ...great glass, great options for recticles, warranty and price !!
I was in P&D in Edmonton and looked / handled a Nikon Monarch 3, 4-16x 42mm, FFP. Great scope, now I'm just looking for a reason to upgrade one of my rifles,

currently own:
Nikon coyote special 4.5-14x 40mm BDC/ .223
Nikon Monarch 3, 4-16x 50mm BDC/ 30.06
Nikon M-308 4-16x 42mm BDC/ Modern Hunter

The website doesn't have that much info. Did you happen to take note of the minimum parallax setting? Most scopes are 50yrds but some go lower, which is handy for rimfire.

Had a look in the Nikon catalog.

The Monarch 3's and Prostaff 5 models (3 different zoom ranges in both models) all have side adjustable parallax from 50 yards to infinity.

The one thing I don't like with the Nikon reticle is the lack of a progressive taper on the main crosshairs (which Burris has on their FFP's) - so when you increase the zoom you end up with an uber-fat crosshair. But they do list at about half the price of the Burris.
