nikon monarch 3 vs sightron s2 which is the best for my buck?

I have a Monarch 3 that is very bright and sharp. I haven't looked through a Sightron S2 but my SIII is fantastic.

Both have lifetime warranty, Nikon has lifetime no fault warranty. If you are hunting I'd go Nikon due to the no fault warranty.

Personnaly i hate Nikon's BDC. I use almost use exclusively Sightron scopes now. Love the glass and they fill all my needs. Even the SI serie is surprising!

How do you find the S1 reticle thickness compared to the Nikons?
I was thinking of getting a S1 in 3-9 with a mil-dot reticle.

Pretty sure my S2 has a .125 crosshair the S1 are thicker.

I haven't looked through a Sightron, but I bought a Monarch 3 for my hunting rifle last year and after this season, I just bought another for my new rifle. The clarity and light it allows in I think makes this a great scope for the money. Add the no-fault warranty and an active rep here on the forum, I am going to stick with Nikons for a while.

It is thicker but never been an issue for me. For hunting and plinking purpose they are adequate for me. I have not look through an SI with mildot. I'm putting an SIH 3-9X40HHR on my 6.5X55 for big game.

I run S2B's and S3's, and love them. I have peered through the odd Monarch, and found the glass quite clear. I prefer the Sightron reticles myself.

I Like the Monarch 3's of which I have several. I also have a cross section of reticles (BDC, Nikoplex and German #4). Optics are superb. I would recommend them

The Nikon monarch 3 2.5-10x42 has the longest combination of tube body length, eyepiece length, and eye relief of any scope I've been able to find. Even better than the Monarch 5, which has a shorter body *and* less eye relief.

I'm hoping to Pete that it turns out to be a good scope. That combination of lengths opens up a number of loooooong action rifles like the Vanguard and Kimber 8400 to me.... Barely.

The next "best" for length is the VX-2 3-9x40, but I've had one, and for good reasons, I didn't like it and won't buy another.

IMO, you have to step up to an SII Big Sky to compete with the Monarch. I have a couple and am a huge fan.

I had a Big Sky, and I replaced it with a Monarch.

I could care less what you use, as long as I no longer have to use the Sightron.
