I know there is limited information or reviews around the M-308, especially in Canada, but I will be purchasing one of the above in the US shortly. The scope will be primarily for my Rem 700 5R .308. Can anyone offer any insight in which scope would be best or preferable for my setup? I am stuck on Nikon and will not consider other brands at this time. I have the Nikon Coyote Special BDC for a .223 and so I like the BDC system and was hoping to have a similar setup, but I could still be convinced of a Nikoplex or Mildot in the same setup.

I just can't decide which one would be best. The M-308 is obviously limited to .308 calibers whereas the Monarch could potentially be used on other firearms?

Question: Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 BDC or Nikon M-308 BDC on a Rem 700 Milspec 5R .308

The nice thing about the M- series, is that in addition to the BDC reticle, you get some nice exposed turrets. I have an M-223 BDC, and I really like it. Keep in mind the BDC is really only a guide, and, if you use the spot on website, you can find out where you're at with other calibers too. No different than any other BDC reticle out there. There's always a + or - depending on the caliber/distance.

If the turrets are simply MOA marked, and not yardage marked, it's pretty much a universal optic, which is why I went with the M-223 BDC over the rapid action model.

I like the M-series, especially if you're set on Nikon. Great value/features I think.
