Nikon Monarch 7 4-16 x50mm.

Went to the store today to look at a Sako 85 rifle and a scope. Was looking at the Leupold VX3L but the sales guy suggested I try looking through the Nikon Monarch 7 4-16 x50mm.

It was impressive. The clarity and brightness were beautiful. Even compared with a much more expensive Swarovski.

Rifle will be a .223 for a variety of reasons to be used for fun target shooting and coyotes and groundhogs.

I'm unsure about the reticle. No windage markings.

I have a 3-15 illuminated on my hunting rifle and I really like the open reticule and locking turrets.

Personally, I would stick with the 4-16x42.

Great option to go with, for myself personally I'd only recommend the 50mm bell if you think you will need the extra MOA adjustment. For most guys the 42mm is more than enough brightness, even at 8x you still have a 5mm+ exit pupil. You'll need higher rings and depending on your cheek weld it can be a bit to get used too.
