I see that SIR has a Nikon Monarch UCC 3-9*40 listed on sale for $359.

Does anyone have experience of these to know how they would stack up against against say the leupold VXII the Bushnell 4200 and perhaps the Zeiss Conquest, which with Le Barons 20% sale right now are all in roughly a similar price bracket (the Zeiss might be pushing it a little at $545-20%+GST+PST).

I am looking to put this on a Rem 700 ADL in 30-06, which is my general purpose big game rifle.

I love the transferable lifetime warranty and reputation of the Leupolds but the price in Canada is horrendous. Can a VXII stand its ground optically against these others? The VXIII is another $150 over even the Zeiss!
The Bushnell seems like good value and I love the idea of the rainguard, but it is a little bigger and heavier. The equivalent 3200 is smaller but I think that would be a significant drop optically right?
I really dont know much about the Zeiss and even less about the Nikon.

Any pointers? Thanks.

I have used several Nikon Monarchs/Buckmasters and have been extremely impressed by their optical and mechanical performance. Great scopes for the money.

Also consider the ELite 4200 3X9 - 40 that was released this year. About the same dollars. Of the two, I like Bushnell elites more. Work better for MY eyes. YMMV

Both will offer better optics to the VX-II and compare favorably to the VX-III.

Check and see if it's the new monarch or the old one, the old ones can be had on ebay for way less. They are comparable to the leupold vx11 line.

Orb how do you feel about a 3-9x50mm, P&D has a clearance on these Browning scopes which are pretty much the same as a 3200, I think they are going for $229.00, reg $359.00. FS

I have one of the older ones on an SPS. Its very clear with nice relief. I like it more than the VX2 2-7 compact i once had.

I have a Monarch 3.3-10 with mildot reticle and it is a very good scope, indeed. So far I'm very pleased with it and would not hesitate to buy another Monarch.

I've had a number of Monarchs, a 3200 and a few Leupolds and Burris. A Monarch is better than a 3200 or a VXII and is said to be as good as a 4200 or VXIII. Burris may be a scope to consider as well.
