Looking for some feedback. I am looking at a new scope in silver finish. Bushnell does not have many options in magnification that comes in silver finish but Nikon definetly does. How good is the Monarch or Buckmaster against the Elite 3200 or or perhaps the 4200? Looks as though with Nikon the monarch is their higher end but I don't know much about them. What is the best choice?

The story I got at Epp's just about a week ago is that the woman in charge of Nikon Canada is vehemently anti gun and refuses to bring in the rifle scopes. Any Nikons in Canada are brought in by unofficial means and not covered by warranty. I do not know if this is correct (I take any gunstore info with a grain of salt) but Epp's is usually pretty reliable.

Monarch higher end than Buckmark, one fellow looked through mine at the range and made four of his friends look through it, he was so impressed by it, they had Bushnells... Said something to the effect it was so bright it was like looking at Barbados through the scope.
If that is the case, sounds like a couple phone calls needed to Nikon N.A. is needed asking why cant buy scopes and whether they arent in business to make money any more. Can somebody with ties to Nikon please confirm/deny?
Personally I tend to be brand loyal - already own Nikon cameras, lenses, binoculars, and scopes - looking at range finder, spotting scope, and another rifle scope. But if Nikon not willing to support shooting sports... well Canon and Leupold make good products too (Canon has 2x market share so Nikon not in position to really loose business).

Well it is true that the woman we speak is truly anti hunting, there was so much pressure put on from retailers that she had no choice in the matter, Nikon make some great scopes, I love that 4X rimfire scope they make and the rest of the line is pretty solid as well.
Now for Bushnell, they have had a price reduction for the third straight year, the new 3-9 3200 retails for $214.00 down from last years all time low at $249.00, which for my money is the best deal around for almost any rifle. FS

This story is not completely true. The owners of Nikon Canada ,did a few years ago, not want to bring in the rifle scope line and it was confirmed that they were against hunting. Some dealers did grey market their product and Nikon Canada threatented to cut them off to the items they did bring into Canada if they did not send the scopes back to the USA. There was pressure put on Nikon Canada by several Canadian dealers (including ourselves) to either bring in the scope line or give it to someone else. About three years ago they relented and are now importing most of the rifle scope line (some tactical and mildot variants are still not being imported into Canada). The sales manager Mary Mulder is very receptive to the sport optics line and she has been very helpful in developing the brand in Canada. Nikon products have been selling reasonably well for us and reliability has been outstanding. We carry most of the scope line in stock. Phil.

Thanks for the clarification. Spoke with someone I know with Nikon (seven years with them, some at head office) had never heard of such a thing.

Have owned a 3200 3-9x40mm and now use a 4-16x42mm Monarch. While the Nikon is about 2x the price, the quality between the two scopes is well worth the price difference. Also have a VXII and I would say the Nikon bests the Leupold as well.
