Nikon or Leupold

Thank you all for your opinions. I think I will save up a little more and try to get a vortex or leupold as they seem to have the best warrentys. And maybe go for 4x12. I'm thinking they extra magnification will ensure I can get the one perfect shot.
I'm also dropping the idea of the Nikon altho of the ones I looked at it was the clearest. I have no luck with anything. That's why warrenty is such a big deal. I got a list a mile long of things I have had to get fixed under warrenty. I seem to attract the lemons.

Go Leupold especially with its lifetime warranty.

I just sent a scope for warranty late last year due to "bubbles" in the view. 2 months later a brand new scope arrived at my door, no-BS no hard-time from Korth or Leupold. Great quality for the money (before hardcore guys jump on this I am not comparing to Nightforce etc).

oh yea warrenty is an issue (I have no luck at all with used things) so id rather buy new unless the scope brand has good warrenty program

I'd go Leupold. I was in the same dilemma not long ago, did a lot of research and comparing glass. I ended up getting a VX-2 for 300 and could not be happier. Very clear with lots of light transmission. They use a different coating system for the VX-2 than the VX-1/rifleman. To my eyes the VX-2 beat out the Zeiss Terra and everything else around the $400 range. Great lifetime warranty transferrable to any owner. the eye relief is very generous and the edges are blacked out to reduce any reflection. Can't go wrong with a VX-2 IMO
 
Nikon.

Spend $300 on a Leupold and $100 to $175 goes to the 'superior' warranty versus quality of product.

Don't get me wrong Leupold makes a decent scope. If I want a decent 3x9 scope I will spend $200 on a Burris, which will give me as good or better scope optically than a $300 Leupold and better mechanically.

If I'm spending $300 on a 3x9 I want a good or very good - that will be the Nikon or ,as mentioned, the Bushnell Elite.

That's my take and I own both ( don't own the Bushnell)

Just a quick note on this and in no way am I negating your personal experience. Nikon Canada has made a number of changes since July and going forward I think you will see a lot less issues with any sport optics warranty concerns. Please feel free to PM me if you'd like some details.
