I need new optics and these are around my price point. I have always used the 3200 series and the have been adequate scopes but I'd like to try something new and the Nikons seem to have good ratings and I like the idea of the 4" of eye relief.

I don't get a chance to look at scopes before I buy so I was wondering if anyone has used these two side by side and can give me a good honest opinion.

My requirements for a scope:

1) Once it is sighted in it stays with no POI changes
2) 12X is about the highest I'd ever need and I could easily make do with less
3) Clear optics of course that won't give me scope flash in crappy light
4) If possible will have the ability to prevent me from ever missing a shot:)

Thanks

Jump up to the new Bushnell Elite series. They definetly have the edge on the old 3200 series. Currently on sale at WSS. A 3.5x10x40 is a great scope for its price. Cant go wrong with the Elites. Clear glass and very good for low light. I've had Elites for over ten years now and NEVER had an issue with holding zero or not being able to see in low light. Currently got 2 3200's, 1 4200, 1 Elite, and 1 Elite Tactical. Love em all!

Bushnell no longer makes the 3200 nor the 4200. Both have been replaced by the Elite. I'd put the Elite on par with the 4200 or perhaps slightly better. Not sure you could go wrong with the Monarch or the Elite...both pretty good optics for the dough.

If you like the Bushnell 3200, you will love the Elite series. Its more equivalent to the 4200 series. I own 3, and all have been excellent, just like the one 4200 I have. I would recommend them for a solid hunting scope. If you want to target shoot at longer ranges, I would try something with better lenses but cost increases rapidly.

I bought a brand new 3200 Elite in 3-9x40 and the darned thing broke. Bushnell replaced it and upgraded it with a brand new Elite, no questions asked. First time at the range and I just could not believe what I was seeing. The Elite is simply miles ahead of the old 3200 in every department. I am not a brand specific person but if I was ever looking for another scope I would start with Bushnell.
