Any fans of this economical scope ? I'm thinking on getting one. Just not sure I like the sound of the 75 yard parallax setting. I do have Nikon Prostaff rimfire BDC in 3x9 now on another .22 rifle and I like it fine , but for this gun , I want to shoot more at 100 yards , so I want a bit more magnification. With my eyes I find 3x9 is great on a hunting rifle. But this will be more for off the bench , and striving for more precision on a budget.
Any fans of the Nikon 4x12 ?
 
I have the 4x12x40 on a no.4 LE, so not the rimfire line. It's great, I'm sure the prostaff rimfire in 4x12 is just a s nice, I have the 3x9 on my .22 bolt gun and it's great but I'd like more magnification when shooting off a bench sometimes.
 
Can't speak to the particular scope you are asking about, but the Prostaff Rimfire line has impressed the crap out of me! They are plenty rugged as I've hunted mine extensively for the past couple years and zero has never changed. Love nikons!
 
I have the Nikon Prostaff rimfire in 3x9 as well. I really like it and the BDC seems to be pretty much right on. Only thing is the reticle actually came loose and started moving around while on my first gopher hunt with it about 1500 rounds in. Warranty covered it and they sent me a new scope. I changed it out for a Vortex 4-12 at the time and put the new Prostaff on my back up gun. Still like it but not sure I trust it on my primary anymore.
 
I have had a 3-9X Rimfire Nikon, and I now have a 4-12X Rimfire Nikon. Great scopes for the price point. I shoot at targets 40 to 100 yards. The parallax setting of 75 on the Nikon 12X gives a fuzzy closer-in picture. I would suggest going higher than 12X for 100 yard target shooting, and with a scope that has AO. On my CZ 452 rifle I use a 25X scope with AO (no spotting scope needed to see where you hit on the 100 yard target). It works fine at 40 yards as well.
 
Nikon Prostaff EFR 3X9 on my 22 lr. Cheap and cheerful! I used it for silhouette shooting out to 60 m this week. Only use 6 power at this distance. Agreed that bench shooting to 100, more power would be nice. I think that they are great scopes, my next cheapest scope costs 5X more. That says a lot about the Prostaff.

Another popular option is to use the p-223 series scopes on a .22. there is a setting in the app that makes the bdc work for .22. Just to keep your options and possibility of using it on a larger rifle open
 
The P-223 is a 3-9 . I already have a Nikon 3-9. I was asking about the Nikon prostaff rimfire II , in 4-12 power.
I have made up my mind , and I am going to buy one. Cabela's seems to have the best advertised regular price .
But I'm half scot so I'm waiting for someone to put them on sale.
I'm jumping on the first sale like a duck on a June-bug . Thanks all for your comments.
 
If this is important to you, just be aware the Nikon prostaff rimfire II 4 - 12 x 40 is 1/4 in @ 50 yds, and not the usual 1/4 in @ 100 yds.
