Why were you disappointed? Was it because of where it was made or the quality of the scope?

SansQ, sorry you feel that way. However, my experience with Nikons are they are very well made with excellent optics and solid mechanicals. Don't really care where they run the CNC machine and screw it together.

Always keep in mind that in a global ecomony, we really don't know where the components are made and they are likely to be produced in an area of new facilities and low labour costs.

The Zeiss Conquest line is assembled in the US but where are the parts made? Lenses certainly aren't US produced.

Some will be very dissapointed to learn where some Luppy components are now made. The parts are still made to high standards but there is a perception of 'cheapness'.

That was the orig perception of the Honda and Toyota. Now look who is considered part of the 'Big Three' in USA.

As long as it's not made in china, it should be fairly clear. Bushnell Legend line is made in the Phillipines as well and are solid performers. You could have got a elite 4200 series for the price of that monarch though....they are made in Japan

Some of the better Simmons scopes are made in the Phillipines too. Same factory?

I've owned a Nikon Monarch 3-9X40 for 7 + years, reads it was built in Thailand. Great scope, bright glass, reliable, and great eye relieve.

Put side to side with Bushnell 3200, and 4200 for my eyes I prefer the Nikon.

Zeiss lenses all of them are still made in Germany ( east Germany ) some screw together in CZ by meopta, and some are built in Germany. There is a on each Scope a code. CM is made in USA ( i guess so ) TM is for sure made in Germany. I have Zeiss, Swarowski, Leupold and Meopta. For my eyes and wallet is meopta good enough. Zeiss and Swarowski is for sure better but only when sunrise and sunset and in the Moonlight. But here in Canada is nighthunting forbidden. So what else for daylight and target shooting is meopta sufficient enough and robust.

East Germany? Thought the wall went down a long time ago.
