looking at purchasing 3+9-40 scopes for my 223 and my ruger 10/22. looking at the nikon pro staff rimfire for ruger and nikon buckmaster for 223. The ruger 22 would be shot at the range the 223 for coyote hunting. Is the buckmaster worth the extra 100.00 or so? does not seem like i am getting much more for the extra money? should i just get the prostaff for both? any body with any input on this or on nikon scopes in general i would like to hear from you. thanks

the buckmaster is worth the extra, I have 5 of them. there is a 3x9 on the EE right now.for you 223 you might want a little more power ie 4.5x14.

The Prostaff is an excellent .22 LR scope. Can't go wrong there for the money.

However, do NOT get the same "rimfire" scope for your .223.

Parallax is set entirely different for a rimfire scope, about 50 yds. You want a regular centerfire scope for the .223, in which parallax is generally set for 150 to 200 yds.

They're not interchangeable...at least not if you want to see a crystal clear target at the appropriate ranges for which you will be using each rifle.

I love my Buckmaster SF...but I bought it in the US a while ago and got a killer deal on it. I was thinking of Leupold and picked up the Nikon due to price...have not regretted that purchase.

Buckmaster gives you hand turn MOA's, quick focus eyebox, higher light pass through (brighter), better build construction and a parallax set to hunting ranges.

You had mentioned you were also looking at Coyote hunting, see if your local retailer has the Coyote Max 3-9x40 on hand as well. Same build as the Buckmaster but a new reticle designed for varmint hunting that will match up really well with our Spot On software.

Feel free to PM me if you've got questions.

Hello everyone...I am new to this forum and have found the threads to be quite informative...

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy NIKON scopes in the Toronto area? BassPro and Al Flaherty's don't have them and I don't think Lebaron's does either...any recommendations would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks.
