Nikon to leave the scope business

Virtue signalling....bending the knee to the anti mob.

I don't think it is capitulation to the anti-hunting crowd myself.........who knows?
I think the optics market is flooded with good scopes these days and is crazy competitive so they are just focusing on their other optics business where they see better return. Lot's of talk of a recession on the horizon so maybe they want to circle the wagons sooner rather than later.....
I have mostly Leupold glass on my rifles but do have 2 or 3 Nikon's as well and I have been very happy with them. Bright glass and good clarity at reasonable prices. Shame to see them go but what can you do.

We just confirmed this with our Nikon representative that Nikon is getting out of the rifle scope business. This apparently is a decision made at the top in Japan. Sales of Nikon scopes have been weak in the USA (their major market) while Canadian sales have been up. We have done quite well with sales, warranty and general product support from the Canadian distributor and we will miss this product moving forward. There has been no info regarding warranty in the future however I would doubt that this will be a problem considering Nikon is still in place as a major optics and camera producer. I am confident enough that if clearance inventory is available we will consider purchasing remaining stock especially the Black models as they have sold so well. Good luck Travis (our rep) in the future. Phil.

Sorry to hear they are leaving the hunting scope market. I am glad they're still staying in the bino, spotting scope and range finding market. I purchased a Nikon Laserforce 10x bino fairly recently and am quite happy with it.

They've always produced a good product and I'd buy from them in the future (including a rifle scope).

I sincerely hope this move is not virtue signaling B.S. As a consumer, I'd be very disappointed to hear that.

Nikon is...was a good mid level scope manufacturer. Their departure should simply allow for profitability for other makers, and a adjustment to fill the void.

Unfortunately, there has also been a move to shift manufacturing away from Japan to places like Korea, China, and the Philippines. You get what you're willing to pay for.

That is more than likely the reason
