Well, my new Nikon scope is crap, so the question is: Now that Nikon is out of the scope buisness, is there any use sending it in for warranty, and if so where would I send it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bob

I contacted Nikon about warranty on a mount. They said I needed the original packaging and receipt. Which was not what the actual Nikon rep told me.

Who keeps the blister pack for their scope mount?

you have to register your product to get the warranty as far as I know.
The instructions inside every Nikon product are pretty clear and include the paperwork for said warranty.
the forms have come with every Nikon product I own as a matter of fact.
The Nikon rep is around this site so perhaps he will chime in.

It was asked about the receipt and stuff and he says thats what it says for warranty but they dont enforce it. But now they do...

Actually I won`t miss them that much, I`ve tried 3 of their scopes and 2 out of three were crap so I would not buy another one anyway.

Interesting. You have the exact opposite experience of most people - nikon is often referred to as some of the best glass for the price.

Yes, the glass is fine, much better than Vortex glass. The problem is the "mechanicals", they would not track properly and parallax was the worst ever. I`ve been at this for a long time and tried a lot of different stuff and I have had the worst luck with Nikons and Vortex and will not use them anymore. I am down to Zeiss and Leupolds now, have never had any issues with either and am really impressed with Zeiss.

No doubt; Zeiss and Leupold have set the standard. Lately a lot of guys here in southern Ontario have turned to Scorpion; other than their low end scopes, their medium and high end are amazing, and the workmanship rivals scopes that cost much more.

The other thing is they are distributed out of Manitoba by Scorpion Outdoor Products, and they look after their unlimited life-time waranty directly. They are not new, as I have been seeing their stuff around for the last 5 years at least. Take a look at their stuff, you may be very impressed!

If you want something made in China like Scorpion go for it. There are Japanese made optics for a similar price with known reliability.

Thanks for the info, I will keep them in mind. I shoot several guns so one has to always consider the $$ otherwise it can get a little crazy ( can`t put Zeiss & Leupold on everything as it can get a little $$$$). I just bought my first Burris to mount on one of my gopher killers, thought I`d give them a try as like I mentioned, Vortex and Nikons have not impressed me. Have had poor results in the past with Bushnells also, although I will admitt I have not tried their higher end stuff for a long time, I think I`d actually try an upper end Bushnell maybe.

I have had excellent results with the Weaver Super Slams, those are damm fine scopes, too bad they are no more.

Not correct. You're to keep your warranty card and your sales receipt. Both are required if you are looking for warranty work. Nothing needs to be registered.
