Gots a question for the masses--on a No 1 MK111 I have a bunch of offset swivels here. Is it correct to have the rear and forward band with the offset swivels and then the front one is of course the stacking swivel? The offset would be opposite of the shooter (example) The offset would be on the left side for a R.H. shooter. Is this correct or am I out to lunch on this one? I need 3 stacking swivels and would it be bad karma to make them out of swivels that aren't offset? Are the stacking swivels a totally different breed? I don't have one and cant ever remember looking at one!!

Hello 7ECA. Unfortunately the stacking swivel in your offered website has been made incorrectly. On both the long
(original production to SMLE) and the short (1920's improved model) there was an edge back to one side of the screw hole so
that the swivel would not rotate forward enough to interfere with bayonet mounting or get caught up on the bayonet bar itself.
However it looks good when you don't have one. Since originals are rather brutal to find if I was icehunter I would just cut a regular
and pinch the cut ends in slightly to make it look good. John

Swivels were offset to clear the long range sight. Short arm of the swivel goes on the lhs.

An here I read in a forum that the offset was for r/h or l/h shooters. Just goes to show you that don't believe everything you read on the net. I thought it was odd that they would have reversible swivels for a wartime production rifle.

As mentioned I will just cut down some swivels if need be but keep looking for some originals.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Funny, because I see just a little bit of an edge on that one around the mounting hole. Actually, it looks pretty much exactly like the little bit of an edge on the stacking swivel on my 1918 Enfield No.1 Mk.III.
