No.1 Mk III ATI Scope Mount

mine has been great so far!

i had to shim the rear of the base to get more adjustment for my scope, i have used it with a 4x an 10x bushnell with several hundred rounds.
 
Actually looks quite simple to mount but can mark the action where the front screw and rear screws bites in. On a sporter not being refurbished, I guess it would not matter much.
 
I did use once the ATI "no gunsmith" mount on a No1 Mk3, I can't way it's the strongest design. I'd look at the S&K mount first.

As far as drilling holes in the rifle, as WT mentions, it does make the rifle less apealing for folks who consider the possibility of returning it to its original configuration. So in a way, drilling and taping the receiver makes the value go down if you want to sell it later. I'd get a second rifle that's already tapped for $75; that way you get 2 Enfields (you can never have too many of them) and you wouldn't need to drive to the gunsmith :)
