The rifle was issued to the South African Union SAU and as LeeEnfieldNo.4_mk1 said it was built in IShapore India.

The nose cap is a 2A variant from the 7.62x51 version. Not sure if it was standard to mix them on .303 rifles in India or not? Given it's an Ishapore I can't give it any fault for that, nice rifle! Extra bonus points for Regimental markings from South Africa!

It's not a No4Mk1, It's a NoI MKIII*

SAU-CIE is not a South African Union marking. SAU means in Indonesian Senapan Angkatan Udara (Rifle for Air force). CIE refers to the word "company" in French.

South African marking would be a U with an arrow in the middle on the receiver knox form.
