I am wanting to tune up this rifle for some target shooting. trying to keep it to service rifle configuration for matches.

So far it has;
Parker hale 5A receiver sight.
Trigger to about 4 lb. pull still needs to go lighter.

What is done with the front blade? Globe sight or left alone?
Any other tricks or advice.

Thanks

VERY nice!

About a 4-pound pull should be okay for this rifle, but check the coaking-piece for wear; you might want to stone it carefully, as they did wear right where the sear makes contact. This can give you a false feeling of extra weight on the trigger. Four pounds isn't hard to pull at all: just enough so that the thing won't go accidentally.

If it were mine, I would leave the front sight alone, put the rear sight off laterally and aim with the top-right corner of the front sight blade. I find that I can get tighter groups this way than I can with the globe that came on my new Long Branch .22 (which is the same age as I am, but it was new to me).

BTW, you really MIGHT want to check out the Milsurp forum. Lotsa guys there like to play with LEs and more than just a few of them know their stuff.
