will not feed or eject from mag . I want to use it hunting . what has to done
to the bolt, mag,?
many thanks for any help

Is it a 7.62 magazine, either a Sterling, or from an L42? The .303 magazine won't work, of course. The Sterling conversion involved a new ejector, the issue magazine had an intergral one.

OK, the magazine just isn't going to do the job. A 7.62 magazine usually sells in the $125 range. They do turn up from time to time. You shouldn't have to change the bolt. The 7.62 extractor has a longer nose, and pushes the case farther to the left. If you install one in your bolt, it may or may not clear the extractor cutout in the barrel. Sometimes the case will eject if it scrubs against the left sidewall of the receiver.

thank you for the help . am going to order mag. and extractor
from collectors choice

Riflechair's right, plus there are two other things...an extended ejector screw may make it eject better, as long as it can be without hitting the bolt. Also, you need a really strong extractor spring that will forcefully push the case over to the left so it hits the screw.

If you can't find the right ejector screw you can use the same screw used in your safety assembly as a last resort. They are the same thread and diameter. I try to keep these screws because I am finding they can serve multiple purposes.

My gunsmith measured the threads and pitch and it crossed over to 6-36 if I remember correctly. It may be possible to buy the right one at a fastener place. I thought it was a British only thread (it is 3BA)
I've also been told that the buttplate trap screw is the same thread, although I wouldn't want to ruin a perfectly good buttplate to steal the screw.

I think you mean extractor spring.......

I thought that a 7.62 bolt head was required, not just the extractor. Is this incorrect?

The Brits had the idea that a higher proof load bolt head was needed, from what I've read it isn't. Good luck finding one...
