Lads and Lassies,

I am about to embark to taking a newly purchased No 4 Mk 1 Sporter, with an uncut barrel and front sight protectors and attempt to turn it into a .303 L42 or Enforcer clone.

I simply love the look of these stocks on the venerable Enfield. I also believe that modifying it this way will allow it to be returned to the originally full wood version as well.

I have searched this site and the milsurps form but I am coming up short for online shops to buy the stocks from. Does anyone have any good links for these parts or parts kits, that will deliver to Canada ?

Your help is appreciated in advance and I apologize if this has come up before, I simply couldn't locate the link using the search function, the inter-web is not strong with me lol

Thank you,

Andrew

Check out Ralph Shaw on Facebook. There is a Canadian Lee Enfield group.

Hope this helps.
I restored a 1916 no1mk3 in June. Of all my guns she's my fav.

I restored a 1916 no1mk3 in June. Of all my guns she's my fav.

I have a 1915 No1 MkIII* that I'll be restoring. I hope you don't mind if I ask you some questions? Did you post pics of your restoration?

The trouble with turning a 303 No 4 into an Enforcer or L42 clone is the skinny barrel /front sight problem. They just don't look right. Think you would be better off restoring to full wood and then a 4T clone.

I should specify its really only the stock that I want. There is something about that look to a stock that I just love

No I didn't I still can't figure out how here lol.
I got a parts kit and forearm and top cover from Sarco.
I still need to take it apart again and soak the stock it in mineral spirits and servers applications of boiled linseed oil.

Grabbers. That's a Mk2 in your picture - an Enforcer clone with a heavy barrel. Very doable however with the No4 barrel it looks a little wimpy. You'll have to drill and tap the front of the receiver for the A20 scope base and pick up the A21 for the rear. You'll need deep pockets to do this - parts are rare and pricey. Just to make you aware however go for it if that the Enfield of your dreams. Ron.

I appreciate the info. You aren't the first to tell me with the No 4 barrel it looks a little wimpy. May I ask how come ?

Again its really only the stock style I want. I like a covered barrel for some reason... Just appeals to me I suppose.

I am thinking of taking a No 4 stock and just modifying to give it this look. Doable in your opinion ?

LOL, Too bad, I'd love to see pics of how it turned out. I'm a woodworker (luthier actually), so once I find a stock set, I won't have a problem with fitting that. I'm more worried about how far to go with restoring the metal. I don't know whether to sand, polish, and blue it, or just leave it as is.
