Okay, I'm a newbie with the LE No4 Mk1 series here, so bear with me.

On my converted No 4 Mk1 (Shirley) that was changed into a No 5 lookalike, the rear sight is the correct 1200 yds/m version. I would like to change this with a JC (new old stock) sight that is graduated to 800 yds/m .... :D

How do I get the old sight off ?? I see a screw on the right hand side, but the other end has a super fine and skinny roll pin  That might be hard to replace if I drift it and the darn pin falls on the the shop floor. This may start to sound like an M14 bolt disassembly nightmare...

Any suggestions from you Lee Enfield experts?

Peace be to journey,
Barney

Some of my rear sights are easy to remove and others are a real PITA! My MK11 still won't come out. Ditto the spring. Keep some pressure on the sight as you draw the screw pin out.

Thanks to everyone's suggestions, I was able to remove the pin very easily and carefully. The swap was simple, and almost effortless. The difficult part was re-aligning the screw during the re-assembly and pin insertion process. I had to re-align the screw so that the pin was straight up and down with a sewing needle (tight diameter) and then tap in that tight fitting pin.

Everything went well.

Thanks everyone!!
