So I have a sporterized No.4 MkII that I'm cleaning up for a bear/bush gun. Only problem is that it won't eject empty cases. Loaded rounds fly across the range, but the empties just flip around and lay backwards in the chamber.

The ejection screw looks to be the right length (2.5 threads or so) and the extractor spring is nice and tight.

When I pull the bolt slow, the case drags along the left side and sort of falls out of the extractor before it reaches the ejection screw. Might this be it? How can I fix it if it is?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

The friction of the case rim draging on the inside of the reciever is what ejects a fired round, the ejection screw is for ejecting live rounds. The bolt is to operated "smartly" to eject a fired case. Bottom line, two things cause ejection problems, a weak extractor spring and a weak wist working the bolt.

Please note, you will not go blind if you only pull hard on your bolt once per shot.

Pull the bolt back hard & fast - not slowly. Treat your enfield like it's stolen - they like it rough. If that doesn't work then your ejector screw might not be long enough OR the extractor is broken.
