I recently acquired a No.4 mkI, a '48 FTR, and took it out today for the first time. After firing, I noticed that the front handguard had slid forward and rested up against the sight block. I repositioned it, and tightened the stock band screws, only to find it did it again.

Anyways, I remembered how the front stock band on my 1950 LB has a little notch stamped into it, which locks into the handguard endcap to keep it from sliding. The stock band on the '48 doesnt have this. I want to make it so, but i dont want to bugger it up. Any ideas?

Thanks,
B

How tight did you get it? With both bands tight, the handguard shouldn't be moving. And, I leave the mid band screw loose enough that the sling swivel can just pivot.
