Greetings!

I am lucky enough to have found some NOS grip panels and screws for my No 5 bayonet, but now I wonder:

Once I've finished oiling the wood, do the screws go the same way as most on the Enfields (head on the left side, "nut" on the right), or does it matter?

Because to me, it matters, if it matters, ya know? ;)

Interwebz images seem to go both ways...

Cheers!

Neal

The screw heads are on the right side of my No 5 bayonet as viewed from the rear (pommel) with the blade edge facing down, and it is the same for several other 1907 Enfield bayonets I have on hand. I can't say if there is a "correct" orientation, but the bayonets I have are consistant.

Thanks for your observations. Yah - The web is full of images, with some heads on right, some on left. I'm just curious if any of the gurus here know "the" correct answer.

If there ain't one - Cool.

If there is - I must be right, or sleep will evade me.

;)
