No 5 stock finish

I took a No 5 JC out of the closet today. First time it has seen the light of day for over 40 years. My question is what type of oil to use on the stock? Tung oil, linseed oil or?? I never shot it much before due to the short butt stock and my long arms but I would like to keep it in good condition.

Linseed oil I believe

Linseed oil was the standard treatment in service.

Try a slip on recoil pad to give a little extra length to the butt. It won't fit perfectly because of the shape of the No.5's butt pad, but it should be workable.

A slip on pad might work, I got thumped in the nose before and just never used it. I have some boiled linseed oil, I will give it a go.

Raw linseed oil, rather than boiled linseed, was the MILSPEC stock treatment.
